Mool Sutra : सुत्तेसु यावी पडिबुद्धजीवी, न वीससे पण्डिए आसुपण्णे। घोरा मुहुत्ता अबलं सरीरं, भारंड-पक्खी व चरेऽप्पमत्तो।।४।।
Sutra Meaning : A wise person of sharp intelligence should be awake, even amongst those who sleep; he should not be complacent, because time is relentless and the body is weak, (So) he should ever be vigilant like the fabutous bird, Bharanda.
